Ready to start your fostering journey?
In order to be considered to become a Foster Carer with FFI, you must meet the following essential criteria:
You must be over 25 years of age.
You need to have a spare room.
You must hold a full and valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
You must have flexibility in your working arrangements.
If fostering as a couple, you will need to have been together for three years and living together for at least one year.
If you have children, your youngest child must be at least 3 years of age.

Becoming a Foster Carer
Fostering allowances for all foster carers are set by the Minister for Children. They represent the maximum that can be paid by us or other independent fostering agencies.
Allowances & Fees
It normally takes from 6-8 months to go through the assessment process, although this largely depends on your personal circumstances. We will do everything we can to make it as straightforward and simple as possible, offering you all the support and guidance you need, every step of the way.
Assessment Process
We provide foster carers with the best possible support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. From therapy and educational support to general advice and guidance, our friendly team of support staff are here for you when you need it the most.
