How to Become a Foster Carer in Ireland?

There are a number of minimum requirements that should be met before you move forward to foster but each person is different so please do get in touch before assuming you won’t be eligible!

Become a Foster Carer in Ireland.
You do not need to be married to foster in Ireland, nor do you need to be in a couple or own your own home. People who are single, in same-sex relationships, or renting are all welcome to apply. What matters most is your ability to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home for a child who needs care.
There are a few essential requirements that you will need to meet to become a foster carer in Ireland:
Minimum Age
You must be over the age of 25 to become a foster carer.
A Spare Bedroom
You need to have a spare bedroom available in your home for a foster child.
Driving Licence
You must hold a full and valid driving licence and a car to become a foster carer.
Work Flexibility
You must have flexibility in your working arrangements to support a child.
Accomodation
If you are renting your home, you must provide written permission from your landlord.
Youngest Child’s Age
If you have children, your youngest child must be at least three years old to foster.
