About Fostering First
Fostering First Ireland was established in 2005. Our goal is simple, to provide foster carers with the support they need to give a stable life to children in care. FFI is responsive and supportive, from when you first make contact with us and throughout your fostering career.
As an organisation founded on family values, we pride ourselves on knowing our carers and recognise the contribution they make towards a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people.
Our MDT service (formerly known as Key Assets Consulting) was established in 2018 provides high-quality, multidisciplinary assessment and consulting services to children and families.
Key Care Team Model
FFI utilises a framework called Key Care Team Model. Our unique approach to fostering and involves carers and staff working together in the best interest of the child. The Key Care Team Model approach brings together a flexible and responsive team of professionals to meet the therapeutic needs of young people in care. By working together, we can ensure that issues from the past do not damage the future outcomes for children.
As a foster carer, you are an integral part of our Key Care Team Model? approach and will work with social workers, therapists and a range of other professionals to ensure that the child in your care receives the right level of support for their needs.
FFI offers a comprehensive package of support which includes:
A social work service available when you need it
Access to an out of hours service 7 days a week
Up to 10 nights supportive respite
A competitive fostering allowance
Regular support through carer groups
Access to a qualified therapist
A broad range of training options tailored to carer needs
Organised social activities for you, your family and the young people in your care.

Carer Learning and Development
Foster carers and their families are all different, but they do have some similarities. They all want to make a difference to a child who needs help. They offer support and are prepared to invest in the children placed with them. They are advocates for the children they care for whilst providing a nurturing, warm family environment.
