Supported Lodging Placements
FFI’s Supported Lodgings carers provide accommodation, support and a family setting to young people over 15 years who cannot live at home, but are not ready to live independently. These young people will have gone through a range of experiences and some may require your support in making positive choices in their lives.
As with all family placements offered by FFI, the Team Parenting ethos underpins practice.
Supported Lodgings carers work in partnership with the young person and the young person’s Social Worker, in preparing them for independent living at a future date.
The focus of the Supported Lodgings placement is to prepare young people to develop practical skills in budgeting, household tasks, cookery, self-care and life skills while supporting their emotional needs.
Supported Lodgings carers are provided with specialist training to meet the needs of the young people placed in their care.
The training provided addresses the following topics:
- Absconding
- Offending behaviour
- Exclusion from school
- Self-harming behaviours
- Complex attachment behaviours
- Substance misuse
- Preparation for young people leaving care
