Fostering First – 2023 HIQA Inspection Report

Fostering First Ireland 2023 HIQA Inspection Results – 16th May 2023.

Fostering First Ireland (FFI) was inspected by HIQA in respect of the provision of fostering services from February 13th-17th 2023. The Report found FFI was in full compliance with all of the Standards inspected.

Our Director Marie Faughey commented “I am delighted to share the fantastic news that FFI was deemed fully compliant against the eight standards assessed in our recent HIQA Inspection.

The report which is published today outlines the importance FFI places on young people’s rights, young people’s participation and outlines areas of good practice in all the standards inspected. It endorses the emphasis on quality that FFI is justly proud of achieving and maintaining across our services.

I believe the report confirms the quality of the work that our wonderful foster carers and staff undertake every day to ensure that young people in FFI placements are loved, supported and protected.

I wish to pay special tribute to our staff and foster carers for their incredible work and who are at the forefront of the provision of our quality service and for their ongoing support.

We welcome each inspection as a new learning experience and FFI will take the learning from this inspection to inform our commitment to achieving  positive and lasting outcomes for young people in care.”

Fostering makes a real difference in a child’s life, providing children and young people with a loving home and the support and encouragement they need to flourish. Ireland currently has over 90% of children in care cared for by foster carers, one of the highest rates in the world.
