Fostering Assessment Service
Getting it right from the very beginning
Working with Tusla, FFI has extensive experience in providing general fostering and Section 36 relative care assessment services. We also provide these services to UK based local authorities and other EU countries in line with Article 56 of EC Regulation 2201/2003.
We always ensure that each and every prospective foster carer has been assessed thoroughly in processes which safeguard vulnerable young people. In this why we identify high quality foster carers who have the essential skills, attitude, experience and empathy we look for.
Undertaking fostering assessments is a very skilled specialist area within social work and so all of our assessors have a minimum of three years experience in this area, are CORU registered and Garda vetted with suitable references.
We complete all of our assessments in accordance with the Child Care (Placement of Children in Foster Care) Regulations 1995, the National Standards for Foster Care 2003 and Tusla’s Foster Care Committees Policy, Procedures and Best Practice Guidance 2017.
FFI will also:
- Make any statutory or reference checks
- Ensure all social workers have professional indemnity insurance
- Supervise assessments
- Provide updates
- Assure the quality of the assessment report
- Provide administrative support
- Present the assessment report to the Foster Care Committee
